Marcia, a Latina who has obtained her Permanent Residency in Canada

This is the story of Marcia, a Mexican who recently obtained her permanent residence in Canada

Marcia always dreamed of living in Montreal. Since she was little she liked the French language, but she never signed up for classes until she made the decision to immigrate to Montreal.

When looking for language schools, she realized two things: first, that the educational options in Mexico did not ensure that she would get the accent that she was looking for because the classes were not necessarily taught by French natives, and second, that most of the classes were in-person and in groups of more than 5 people. Under these conditions, Marcia felt that she couldn’t progress at her own pace. She got bored in the middle of class because some of her classmates took a long time to complete the exercises that the teacher dictated. Furthermore, adjusting to class schedules was difficult for her. In short, studying French the traditional way just wasn’t working for her.

A friend of Marcia's recommended LRDG to her. She was struck by the fact that we had been offering online learning services in English and French for almost two decades. Also, she liked that her tutor would personalize the approach to her needs and areas of difficulty. Within her learning plan, her tutor supported her with vocabulary teaching so that she would be ready for her immigration appointment.

Marcia started regular courses with us at Module 8, and in just 6 months she reached Module 12, which is a sufficient level to start her preparation for the TEFAQ. This preparation gave her a lot of confidence, because in case she did not pass her exam, LRDG would give her the necessary consultations at no cost to ensure that she approved this important step for immigration.

After 2 months of intensive courses, Marcia took her TEFAQ exam and passed on her first try with an excellent grade.

When Marcia arrived in Canada she realized that her French was quite good. Despite that, she knew that if she wanted to aspire to the managerial position that she wanted, she had to improve her fluency and her pronunciation so she chose to start with our conversation classes.
